Dr. Xiong was invited to give a seminar presentation in Dept. of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at KAIST. He visited KAIST and delivered a research talk on “Design for fit, comfort and safety: A footwear application” to graduate students and faculties of ISE dept. on June 8 (4:00-5:30pm), 2015.

The first journal submission (Comprehensibility of newly introduced water-sport prohibitive signs in Korea by Koreans and Westerners) of our lab undergraduate research assistant-Woojoo Kim has been accepted for publication by Journal of the Ergonomics Society of Korea. Congratulations to Woojoo and Yohana for the paper acceptance! Woojoo will also join our lab as a graduate student in Master-PhD joint program since this March.
Yohana had successfully passed her master thesis defense and obtained the degree. Lab members joined a farewell party for Yohana in Outback steakhouse. Congratulations on graduating from UNIST!
Invited by Dr. Xiong, Prof. Heecheon You from Dept. of Industrial & Management Engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology visited our research lab on Dec 1, 2014. He delivered an interesting research talk on “Integration of Ergonomics & ICT for Smart Healthcare Product Development” in TD room at DHE school. DHE students and faculties participated in the seminar talk.
The National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) announced that another research proposal submitted by Dr. Xiong (PI) has been accepted! This is a long term project focusing on human balance and fall risk assessment using fusion technologies. This proposal is accepted right after the completion of our previous three-year NRF project. Now we are actively seeking motivated graduate students to join our research team.
We are actively seeking two motivated graduate students to join our active team, the positions will remain open until filled, contact Dr. Xiong or lab members ASAP if interested.
Research Areas: 1.Human balance and fall risk assessment; 2. Ergonomic product design & development (especially body-fitted products such as footwear); 3. Comprehension and design of safety signs; 4. Human performance analysis and modeling (especially sports biomechanics); 5. Creative design engineering
Stipend: UNIST scholarship plus additional salary from funded projects (NRF, BK21+, KIDP programs)

Dr. Xiong and Yohana (Ms Candidate) attended this year’s HFES conference in Chicago, IL, USA, from Oct 26-Nov 1, 2014. Both two of them gave oral presentations during the conference.
Ergonomics and sustainable development in the past two decades (1992-2011): research trends and how ergonomics can contribute to sustainable development by Radjiyev A, Qiu H, Xiong S and Nam K has been accepted in Applied Ergonomics. Congratulations to Alex, Hai and Nam!
Two papers first-authored by by Nisa and Yohana respectively have been accepted and will be oral presented at 2014 HFES International Annual Meeting. This year’s conference will be held in Chicago, Illinois, USA from October 27–31.
